Bongchae Sonโ€™s panel paintings of pine trees are based on various subjects such as historical locations or events that occurred in Korea and across the world, as well as socio-political issues. The lighting installed behind the many overlapping polycarbonate layers is a metaphor for historical reality which can be shown in different lights based on the situation. An ordinary landscape at first glance that transforms into a dreamy illusion that holds both the past and present between the layers, Bongchae Sonโ€™s artwork points to the effect of time in history and the depth of our reality.
